You don’t get to decide how a rape victim is allowed to feel.
This is something that the current Pro-Life movement and its political pundits fail to understand. There is a disturbing trend compounding with already disturbing backward thinking that a victim of rape should not be entitled to choose to have a resulting pregnancy aborted — because another victim chose to view that child as something beautiful that came out of something ugly. And now every other victim should not have the right to make that same choice.
You don’t get to do that. If other victims did? Then it was affirming for them, and healed them some, becausethey got to make that choice for themselves.Rape is about violation and a loss of control, and if a someone is impregnated by a rapist, then telling them they have no right to decide how to deal with it — or more importantly, that they should feel BLESSED THAT IT HAPPENED TO THEM — by anyone who is not them— is akin to being raped all over again. Whatever decisions they make it is so thattheycan regain control of their lives.
Not you.
Not God.
You don’t tell a rape victim how they’re meant to feel or what their situation is. I promise you that they are more aware than you are. However well-meaning your intentions, whatever you believe, you are doing more harm than good by pressing this garbage.
